Questions shops ask about VenturusEQ

What it does, what it costs, what you have to put in before the first quote, which files it takes, what the AI reads, how your data is protected, and what your customer sees on the quote page.

Product

What is VenturusEQ?

Estimating and quoting software for manufacturers, sold as a standalone product. It takes the whole RFQ package as a record, reads the PDF drawing and measures the 3D model, costs the work in your own shop rates with every number traceable to where it came from, and sends a digital quote your customer can accept online.

Does it price a part automatically from an upload?

No, on purpose. The AI read and the geometry measurement return proposals with a confidence. An estimator confirms what enters the price, and each confirmation is written to a ledger with the source, method, confidence, who and when. A formula cannot use a value nobody confirmed, so nothing prices from an upload alone.

Which processes does it cover?

CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, fabrication and weldments, and assemblies and kits, with fifteen system templates for mill, turn, fabrication, sheet, assembly, purchased parts, outside work, tooling, geometry-driven variants and two weld models. There is no Swiss-specific or additive template today.

What does the estimator actually work in?

A quote list with eight statuses and saved views, a grid that behaves like a spreadsheet, and an eight-tab workspace per part: overview, method, materials and bill, pricing and cost, geometry, compliance, sourcing and a manual cost roll-up. The print and the model open in the same page.

How do several people work on one quote?

One editor per line, with a visible take-over and a company-set timeout. Lines are assigned per estimator with an assignment email. A review queue routes findings to estimating, engineering, quality or purchasing, and bulk edits change many lines at once.

What happens when we win a quote? Does it create a job or push to our ERP?

Staff record won, lost or no-bid with reasons, probability and competitor. A won quote raises a signed quote.won event that your other systems can receive, and it exports as CSV, XLSX or PDF. Your ERP or job system creates the order or job from that event, in the system you run it in.

Pricing and onboarding

How much does VenturusEQ cost?

It is priced per shop, not per seat, so every estimator, engineer and salesperson can work in the same quote. Every shop is priced for its own work. Contact sales and a person sends a written proposal within one business day.

Is there a free trial?

Not a self-serve one. There is an interactive demo with no form in front of it, and a live walkthrough on one of your own packages. Design partners get concierge onboarding on their own files.

What do we have to set up before the first quote?

Your work-center rates, your material price list and your process templates, entered once. The product ships no rates. Templates are cloned from the fifteen system templates and must pass an activation gate before they go live.

Can we run it on-premises?

Yes. VenturusEQ is delivered as SaaS, and the same product can run on-premises: one container plus PostgreSQL, with mail through your Microsoft 365 tenant, in your own Azure tenant or on your own hardware on request.

Files and CAD

Which file types can we upload?

Twenty-seven: PDF, STEP and STP, IGES, Parasolid, SAT, DXF, DWG, SolidWorks part, assembly and drawing, STL, ZIP, Excel, CSV, plain text, PNG, JPG, TIFF, Word, and Outlook .msg and .eml. Up to 384 MB per file and 700 MB per request.

Which formats does it measure?

STEP, IGES, DXF, DWG and STL are measured by an open-source CAD kernel inside the product. Parasolid, SAT and native SolidWorks files are kept with the package and previewed, and a STEP export of the same part is measured alongside them.

Do we need CAD seats?

No. The 3D viewer and the CAD kernel run inside the product: orbit, measure distance, angle and radius, isolate, explode, snap views, PMI and a bridge from the solid to the bill of materials. Models never leave the container.

Can it read an assembly?

A STEP assembly is read into a tree with quantities per parent, up to 25 levels and 2,000 nodes, and each component can become a quote line. Costs roll up recursively with un-costed components disclosed by cause.

AI

What does the AI read?

The PDF drawing sheet itself. Back come part number, revision, title, material, mass, dimensions, thickness, finish, heat treat, holes with threads and bolt circles, welds, tolerances with datums, surface finishes, special processes, operations, notes, the sheet manifest, variant tables and a confidence.

Is our data used to train models?

No. The security and data ownership statement served from the product says your data is never used for training. The package summary sends text only, never drawings, and controlled files are refused at the AI boundary where that switch is on.

Which model is it, and can we turn it off?

The drawing read uses Anthropic's Claude and is switched on per deployment with a key. Without it the product still hashes, measures, costs and sends; you read the print yourself and confirm your own values.

Security and data

How do people sign in?

Password plus two-factor with an authenticator app and ten recovery codes, requirable per role and enforced on every request. Sessions are revalidated on every request, so a password, role or two-factor change ends them all.

How is controlled data handled?

Each file and package carries a class that only ratchets up. Controlled bytes never reach cloud storage, every controlled open is written to a hash-chained ledger before it is served, downloads are watermarked, and a controlled quote never gets a public link. An access-review page and a US-person attestation are built in.

Who owns the data?

You do. The statement served from the product promises return in open formats on request, no training on your data, and an on-premises option on request. The quote log exports to CSV and XLSX at any time.

Your customer's quote page

What can our customer do with the quote link?

Open it without signing in, pick a quantity break, choose an expedite or optional add-ons if you offered them, decline lines, download the PDF, share their selections, and accept with their name, email, title and PO. Accepting freezes the document as they saw it.

Does their acceptance place an order?

No. Acceptance is a frozen record of what they chose, and there is no payment step on the page. Your staff award the work and confirm it with the customer as they always have.

What do we see about the customer's visit?

A count of views and when the quote was last viewed. The page stores salted hashes, never a raw IP address or browser signature, and the customer's identity is stored only when they accept. If the link has expired, the page lets them request an updated quote in their own words.
