The 27 file types VenturusEQ accepts and what happens to each one

VenturusEQ accepts 27 file types, up to 384 MB per file and 700 MB per request. STEP, IGES, DXF, DWG and STL are measured inside the product; PDF prints are read by the AI and measured on screen; Excel parts lists become rows; Parasolid, SAT and native SolidWorks files are kept with the package with their previews.

All 27 extensions and how each is handled

"Measured" means the geometry kernel wrote facts to the line. "Read by the AI" means the sheet came back as proposals. "Stored" means kept, hashed and classified, never measured.

Limits, archives, scanning and what is measured

Size limits

384 MB per file and 700 MB per request, ingested two at a time with bounded reads so one large package does not stall everyone else. Measurement runs in the background with its own caps, 192 MB per model and 8 MB per mesh file, is retried on failure and can be re-queued from the line. The AI read takes up to 25 files per request and holds 100 in the queue per company.

ZIP archives

An archive is exploded on arrival, one level deep, within limits that stop a zip bomb: 200 entries, 1 GB unpacked, a 200:1 compression ratio. Every member is filed with its own role and remembers its archive. Withdraw the archive and the members follow; restore it and they come back. A nested ZIP is kept as a file on purpose.

Scan state

Every file carries a scan state the whole product obeys. Where a scanner is deployed for your instance, a new upload is held until it comes back clean, and a flagged file can never be previewed, downloaded, read by the AI, measured or turned into a quote line. Where no scanner is deployed the file says "not scanned". A health glyph on the row marks zero-byte, flagged, scan-failed and no-preview files.

What is measured

For a 3D model: bounding box, volume, surface area, mass once the material is confirmed, faces and bodies, holes with a confidence, bends and the flat pattern, wall thickness, pockets, setups, a face census, and a turning profile with maximum outside diameter, minimum inside diameter, slenderness, off-axis holes and live tooling. For 2D: cut length, pierce count, blank area and contours. Each number carries an exact-or-estimated badge, and none enters a price until an estimator confirms it.

Common questions

Can I upload native SolidWorks files?

Yes. Part, assembly and drawing files are accepted, hashed, classified and kept with the package, and the preview image inside each file becomes the thumbnail. Add a STEP export of the part for measurement, and a PDF of the drawing if you want the AI to read it.

Will my Excel parts list turn into quote lines?

Yes. An .xlsx or .xls parts list is read into component rows, header-aware, with blank quantities left blank rather than guessed. The rows become quote lines in one pass, pre-ticked and editable. A CSV is kept with the package but not parsed yet; paste its block into the quote instead, up to 500 rows.
