How a costing method goes live
Clone a system template
Start from mill, turn, fabrication, sheet, assembly, purchased, outside, tooling, one of the geometry-driven variants or a weld model, cloned into your company so the original stays untouched.
Write the formulas
Governed expressions over locked engine variables and the variables you declare, with min, max, round, lookup, table lookups and IF, plus runtime and setup functions. Anything unknown fails closed.
Fill the tables
Removal rates, drill and tap minutes, bend minutes, laser feed, setup minutes, heat treat, finish, tolerance, inspection and weld constants. Typed columns, versioned, CSV in and out.
Pass the gate
Validation checks every operation; a smoke evaluation runs every operation. Only then can the template be activated, and the version is recorded.

Once quotes built on it are awarded, quote-vs-actual shows the drift per bucket, and the portfolio view points at the template to revisit.
